Learn to Ride & On Road Cycling Lessons
1. Learn to Ride
We deliver 2hr – Learn to Ride courses in a safe traffic free environment in Macclesfield.
2hrs is usually sufficient time for a non-rider to gain enough confidence to be able to balance, steer, pedal and stop, using the brakes.
Riders will need to provide their own bike for the session, it’s important that the rider can get both feet flat on the ground when sitting on the bike, saddle height & minor adjustments can be made on the day.
Course cost £75.00 per 2hr session
2. Learn how to cycle on the road safely and confidently
We deliver 2hr, One to One or small group on-road training, learn how to interact with other road users & the best riding positions to be seen & be safe.
One to One training £75.00 – Group Price £55.00 pp
All riders must be competent cyclists and be able to;
- Set off straight ahead
- Look for hazards ahead and behind when preparing to stop
- Apply brakes to bring the cycle to a controlled stop
- Look behind each shoulder while pedalling in a straight line
- Peddle one handed in a straight line
Riders must also provide a brightly coloured top or hi viz bib or jacket.
Macclesfield Bikeathon
Saturday 17th May 2025
Start: Town Hall, Market Place, Macclesfield SK10 1EA
Feedback from previous events; It was great to see the return of Macclesfield Bikeathon this year and I was very pleased to take part in it. The event was very well-organised, with important logistical information available beforehand, and the entire route was fully signposted and well supported. The Bikeathon catered for a range of abilities and skills, with three different courses on offer. Bikeathon has raised over £28,000.00 for the much-valued local charity, Just Drop-In”.
“What a fantastic event and extremely professionally organised – one of the best events I have ever entered. On behalf of our club, please pass on our thanks to everyone involved in the organisation”.
The Bikeathon is back again for 2025!
Macclesfield residents will have fond memories of this popular cycling fundraiser.
The Bikeathon concept is simple – book, turn up to ride and raise money for Just Drop In Macclesfield.
Three Cycle Routes to suit mixed abilities
We will take you on a well-rounded tour of the area, with an opportunity to ride happily in the knowledge that your miles will be making a difference.
Family Route 12 miles
The 12 mile family route heads north out of Macclesfield along The Middlewood Way towards Poynton where the route joins the road and heads south back towards Macclesfield.
Cheshire Plain 30 miles
Ride around the beautiful Cheshire Plain with its quiet hedgerow lined lanes.
The route heads west from Macclesfield towards Jodrell Bank then north towards the feed station at Great Warford Baptist Church. Then it is on to Alderley Edge and Mottram St Andrew before returning to the Macclesfield town centre where the welcome of the finish line awaits.
Cheshire Plain 60 miles
The longer 60 mile route follows the above 30 mile route to the feed station at Great Warford. It then continues west, following quiet Cheshire lanes towards Tatton Park. From here more country lanes link to Byley where the route turns for home heading northeast back towards the feed station for another refreshment stop and the final push back to Macclesfield to collect your finishers’ goodies.
