Macclesfield Bikeathon

Congratulations and big thanks to all the participants and helpers on the 2019 Macclesfield Bikeathon.

2020 dates to be published in due course.

From David Rutley, Macclesfield's MP, talking about the 2019 event: "It was great to see the return of Macclesfield Bikeathon this year, and I was very pleased to take part in it. The event was very well-organised, with important logistical information available beforehand, and the entire route was fully signposted and marshalled. The Bikeathon catered for a range of abilities and skills, with three different courses on offer. There were over 180 participants, with all funds raised going to much-valued local charity, Just Drop-In".

The Bikeathon is back!

Macclesfield residents will have fond memories of this popular cycling fundraiser.

Three Cycle Routes to suit all abilities

Ride around the beautiful Cheshire Plain with it’s quiet hedgerow lined lanes, and help support our official charity partner, Just Drop In.

Not only will you cycle parts of the Cheshire countryside, but we’ll also take you on a well-rounded tour of the area, with an opportunity to ride happily in the knowledge that your miles will be making a difference.

Starting from Macclesfield Leisure Centre, you’ll ride west towards Jodrell Bank , with its huge satellite dish probing the skys. From here, head north towards the feed station at Great Warford Baptist Church.

Riders following the shorter 30 mile route will take a northerly heading towards Alderley Edge and Mottram St Andrew before returning to the leisure centre where the welcome of the finish line awaits.

Long route 60 mile riders continue west, following quiet Cheshire lanes towards Tatton Park taking in views as you ride through the parkland. From here it’s over the M6 motorway before heading south towards Byley where the route turns for home heading northeast back towards Great Warford Baptist Church, for another refreshment stop, and the final push back to Macclesfield to collect your well-earned medal and all for a good cause.
